A February 2026 study (1) evaluated and compared the therapeutic effectiveness of physiotherapy alone or physiotherapy combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in patients with partial supraspinatus tendon tears.

The study included 63 individuals aged 25–65 with isolated articular-sided partial supraspinatus tendon rips. Patients were randomly assigned to treatment or control groups.

Analysis showed that PRP with physiotherapy reduced tendon tear volume more than the control group. Both groups showed clinical improvements after treatment. However, the PRP group improved more than the control group.
