Dr. Darrow describes PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy for chronic knee pain.
In this video we see the patient’s blood platelets being spun down to create a platelet rich plasma solution that will be injected into the knee with guidance from the ultrasound. The first injection is made with lidocaine so the PRP injection will be pain free. This patient is a 64 year old male with 45 years of knee pain. He was told he needed a knee replacement after several surgeries. His PRP treatments will stimulate new cartilage growth and hopefully avoid a total knee replacement.
