Right shoulder – fall while jogging 12 weeks before. After a visit to orthopedist, physical therapy was prescribed for 9 weeks.

• Right shoulder – fall while jogging 12 weeks before. After a visit to orthopedist, physical therapy was prescribed for 9 weeks. Had an MRI on the shoulder, orthopedic found an unstable long bicep tendon. Shoulder is causing pain and sleep problems.
• His doctors recommended steroid injection. If the steroid does not work, Then surgery. The caller is 50 with three kids under age 12 and he is trying to be active for them.

Dr. Grove/Dr. Darrow: We get a lot of bicep issues, rotator cuff issues, but if it’s a true bicep injury we look at the inferior glenohumeral ligament. It is a little ligament that helps provide stability to the shoulder.

A warning for things like steroids, I would be extremely hesitant to be injecting an area like this with steroids the reason for that is that is actually damage tissue long term so it’s a very powerful anti-inflammatory but it comes to the expense of actually damaging and limiting your body’s ability to heal long-term so most of the patients that we see end up much worse off after steroid injections even though you might have temporary relief long term it’s not a great solution an alternative I’d strong strongly recommend at least checking out is you know the service we provide we like to use regenerative medicine right things like platelet rich plasma or stem cells. ultrasound is fantastic for checking this area out so we use it to not only help diagnose but we use it to help guide that needle.

• A separate question: Does this make sense for my mom she’s going to be 94 in April and she has bone on bone, shoulder replacement, neck pain, spinal stenosis, spinal stenosis.
